GIRL YOU REALLY GOT ME GOING YOU GOT ME SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M DOING....So sang Ray Davies way back in 1964, the opening lines of THE KINKS' third single but first hit. It shot to No.1 in 4 weeks.
Ten years later in 1974 THE HAMMERSMITH GORILLAS released their version. '74, a year of nothing new on the rock scene yet it failed to attract any attention. THE GORILLAS went into hiding. It seemed the world was not ready for them. In 1976 they tried again with two great singels on the Chiswick label. Unfortunately, our story ends on a sad note as they broke up in April of this year. We wish them luck with whatever they're planning.
